Dear Parents and Friends,
Our ongoing investigations are gathering momentum in
many different ways in our classroom this week!
Our measuring has taken us to look at Walter and
Billy’s different snake skins and to find out was the longest. We discovered that
Billy’s snake skin was 31 feet long and Walter’s was 13 feet. We have also measured ingredients to make our
delicious Shrove Tuesday pancakes!
The children have enjoyed lots of opportunities to pursue
drawing, in our drawing books we use regularly during rest times and observational
drawings, this week doing big partner maps of the Clipsal track and Edward’s
zoo map.
The children have been using their family photos to
create posters and their own images of their families. It has been so
interesting to talk more with the children about oldest and youngest, how many
people in their family, who lives at their house and what a family means to
them. For those families who have not had a chance to send in a photo of their
family, we would love you to do so in the next week please!
We have also enjoyed visits up to the Rainbow
playground to listen and watch the Clipsal cars racing around the track. Our
Show and tell has been so varied this week, looking at collecting background
information about the Clipsal. We have had maps, photos, videos, earphones,
tickets and even a hat, to help us build our own understanding about what is
happening on our doorstep!
Have a lovely weekend!
Pip and Coney
