Dear Mattingley Families and Friends,
This Friday morning we were lucky enough to be invited up to the
Technology Lab in the big school for a woodwork lesson with Mr
Gilbert, who just happens to be Sidney's Dad. In the classroom as we were
getting ready to walk over to the lab we thought about what might happen in a
woodwork class.
We don't touch- Joshua S
Build it- Eloise
Hammer it down- Jed
Plays with the wood- Oscar
Play- Sidney
Learn skills- Lochlann S
I don't know- Leo
When we arrived Mr Gilbert showed us the different pieces of wood
that had been cut into the different pieces of the cars that we were going to
make. We had to use special boards with sand paper on them to sand the
wheels back into circles. Then using a special hammer we had to hammer the
wheels onto the axel of the cars. However, before we could
begin any of the work on our project we needed to put safety googles
on.
To protect our eyes- Oliver
Or ouch!- William
We would like to say a very big thank you to Mr Gilbert for
inviting us into his workspace so we can see what he does in woodwork
classes with the big boys. We had lots of fun using the special tools that
he showed us to make the cars. We really do appreciate all the time that went
into planning and getting this special activity ready for us. We would also
like to thank Sidney for sharing his Dad with us. We really do love it when
parents share with us what they do or a special skill.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend,
Kimberley Mason and Coney Rocca
