Dear Families
and friends,
Our last two
weeks have been filled with amazing discoveries… we are finding out more and
more about volcanoes, our classroom now has a dentist clinic with very thorough
check ups on offer and we have been fascinated to welcome some spiny leaf
insects into the room.
We have been
working on sharing our understandings with each other and thinking about how we
can help each other learn. The children have been most purposeful in their investigations
and worked to help each other…
Here are some
of our reflections about the spiny leaf insects…
Toby: He was eating and looking at me and eating gum leaves.
Sebastian: He has eaten the leaves and there are
holes!
Harrison: I saw the eggs and they were real..
they were on the paper towel. He’s eating a leaf now!
Jack: There’s holes in the leaves!
Isaac: I don’t know how he holds on…..
Jake: He was holding on with his sticky hands.
Isaac: I think they have 7 legs…
Austin: The eggs are black with a bit of white
on the side.
Tommy: He’s hanging onto a leaf ‘cos he has sticky legs… 1,2,3,4
Oliver: They have 6 legs.. 4 on each side…
Sebastian: But that would make 8!
Denver: I can see the babies.. there are 2…
they are smaller than a leaf!
Charlotte: I can see the eggs.. they’re circles
and they are black. One is eating.. nearly the whole leaf!
Amelia: His tail is open…
Mrs C: The big one is a girl… the boy insects look quite
different. They are straight not all curly.
Poppy: Two eggs are down there and there might be more coming. I
can see one inside the tail!
Antonio: I can see a little creature right near
the daddy. I can see the mummy eating leaves.
Jake: They are made out of leaves. The leaf is almost gone! He’s
cutting the leaf with his teeth.
Teddy: He’s eating upside down!
Ashlynn: The leaf is almost gone. It’s holding
on with its’ sticky hands … it has 1,2,3,4,5
Oliver: The big one is really long. It’s eating
leaves which are in the water.
Izabella: It’s making tiny eggs! Its’ prickles
are making it sticky!
Matilda: Her hand was like a knife! She was
chomping the leaf upside down! Its’ legs are so sticky so it won’t drop off!
Harry BB: It’s looking at me as well!
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 legs!!
The children
have already learnt so much more from each other…. We just love the way we are
working together and working as a team!
Have a
wonderful weekend…
Many Thanks,
Pip and Wenting
