Mead

Hello Mead families and friends,

As a follow on from Paige bringing in Autumn leaves, we went for a walk to the Prep school playground; for both a play and to look for Autumn leaves. What a delight to see so many beautifully coloured leaves that had fallen from the trees.
Excitedly the children ran to collect them to take back to the Mead room.

Mikayla – “Look up here (pointing and looking up at one of the trees) – the leaves have fallen, the wind has blown them down.” Mikayla then looked at another tree: “Look, this tree has no leaves; the wind has taken them all”.
Patrick – “Look! Red, yellow leaves”.
Alexander - “I got an orange one”.
Mikayla – “I can count them; 1,2,3,4,5”.
Patrick – “I will help you; 1,2,3..”.
Danica – “I did find a big red one”.
Jack – “Maybe we can put them on the big tree”. (Outside Mead classroom in Town square)
Paige – “I want to do painting with them”.
Mikayla – “Let’s look at them – just look”.
Mrs Nacca – “Shall we sort them into colours?”

Children exclaimed with lots of enthusiasm – “Yes!”

The children tipped the leaves onto the floor and independently lined up all the red leaves together.
Patrick – “Orange ones here”.
Parker – “Here go the green ones”.

On Thursday Miss Elodie brought in Sunflower seeds for the children to plant, this was a great experience to extend and discover a new intriguing life cycle to follow on from the butterflies. Each child scooped up some soil using a spoon into the tray, they planted their seeds and then watered them.
We are very excited to watch them grow!

To finish off the week we had a lovely movie day on Friday.

We hope you have a lovely weekend, see you next week to commence Term 2.
