Dear
Mattingley families and friends,
What a
wonderful week we shared together. We have heard from Mrs Rocca letting us know
that she has arrived safely at her first holiday destination. She promises to
keep in touch with us, letting us know where she is and what she is doing. We
hope to Skype with her over the next few weeks. We really miss her and are
hoping that she is having a really good time away with her family.
This week
we continued learning about Anzac Day, reading a beautiful story called, Anzac Biscuits written by Phil Cummings and Owen Swan. It shows a little girl
with her Mum cooking Anzac biscuits for Daddy who is away at war. It shows that
contrast of life at home with what it might be like to be at war in an
appropriate way for children of this age. We spoke about why these particular
biscuits were sent away to the soldiers. We then read a recipe for these
delicious treats together. Collecting all the ingredients that we needed we
baked a yummy batch to share.

Later in
the week we were going to head out to the car park to wash some of the very
dirty cars that were parked out there. Unfortunately due to bad weather and lots
of maintenance work happening we decided that this might not be the best
option. Together we decided to take our soap and sponges outside to wash the
bikes and other 'cars' in our outdoor learning environment. Lots of fun was had
working together to clean these toys. It was beautiful watching them take the
time and effort to carefully clean the things that are very precious to them,
especially the bikes!
We clean
them so much. The dirt is all gone- Felix
I clean the
bike. I ride it now- Paxton

All clean now- Jason
Wow it

Every thing

We would
like to say a big thank you to Miss Lucy for all her support over the
last two weeks. We have had lots of fun getting to know her and wish
her luck for her new position in the Chapple Room.
Kind
regards,
Mrs
Mason and Miss Lucy
