We
have had a jam-packed last week of term in the Cooper room! On Monday we had a
visit from the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service. The fire fighters
spoke to the children about safe fires and unsafe fires, the various parts of a
fire truck and what they are used for and what we should do in an emergency
situation. The children were also lucky enough to have a go of the hose that
the fire fighters use to put out fires and have a sit inside fire truck! It was
a fantastic and informative visit! As you can imagine, we have been demonstrating
our new understandings through dramatic play scenarios, by transforming into brave
fire fighters and putting out “fires” all over the ELC throughout the week.
This
week we welcomed two new crawly caterpillar friends into the classroom! Through
the week the children have been lucky enough to observe the caterpillar make
itself a cocoon in preparation for the next stage of its life cycle. We now
have two very beautiful looking cocoons and are awaiting the arrival of the
butterflies.
Miss
C will be running the Autumn program over the next two weeks. I will be on
holidays during this time, so Miss Cassandra will be in the Cooper room with
Miss C. If you need to contact me,
please do so via email.
We
hope that you have a lovely weekend. Safe travels to those who are going away
for the holiday period.
