Dear Families
During morning meeting, first day back of week 2 holidays, children were excited to share their stories of what happened over the long weekend.
We started the week with a visit to the Red Centre, where children had the opportunity to mingle with friends from Cooper and Mattingley rooms. We got to play with balls and engage in activities that required a number of motor skills. We later visited the rainbow playground with our Cooper friends, which is always great fun.

Following on from our discussion last week about blossoms, we looked into and discussed where apples come from and how they end up in our homes. This is what the children came up with:
Harrison Roach – “You put a seed in the grass and it grows into an apple tree. Blossoms grow next”

Annabelle – “Apples grow then”
Ned – “Getting them off the tree and eating them”

Annabelle – “You use a ladder”
Scarlett – “Fruit man brings them to the shop in a car”

Harrison – “No. Truck”
William – “Buy them”

Nicolas – “Bring them to your home”
Finnny – “Eat them”

Scarlett – “We can find them a special seed inside and we can plant them”
To add on from this, we looked at the different shapes an apple makes when cut in different ways. The children used these apples as stamps to create their own paintings of apples. As part of this experience, children watched a machine make our apples into slinkies. The children’s favourite part of this was eating the apples.

To finish off our fantastic week, we prepared our veggie patch for some gardening. In preparation of this we read the book ‘Seasons’ and discussed how to look after our plants. They decided, we needed to water them regularly, a sign telling people to be careful and a rope to stop children from getting in.
We look forward to the new term commencing!

Just a note to parents, if anyone has accidently picked up Cooper's jumper, please return to staff.
Thank you!

From Miss Adele and Mrs Neville
