Edgerley

Dear Edgerley Parents,

We have followed the lead of the children this week and gone Christmas crazy!! One glance at our classroom and you can see that we are all consumed by the festive season. The children have created their own Christmas tree, created decorations, started to make card using a print making process, and all of this whilst excitedly practicing for our Nativity play. 

We were so excited about our performance that it was a little hard to hold back out enthusiasm as we crossed the oval to the Anzac Hall. We were so thrilled that so many of our parents and friends could be there to see us perform. We must give a special thanks to Aston’s mummy for all her hard face painting work. I’m sure you’ll agree that our sheep looked magnificent. 

Congratulations to all the children who confidently took the stage and performed, it’s not always easy to stand up and sing in front of such a large group of people. 

Next week we look forward to graduating five of our Edgerley friends who will be leaving us at the end of this year and would like to invite all of our Edgerley students to join us for a very informal class party next Thursday the 8^th in our classroom at 2.30.

Wilkins

Dear Wilkins friends and families,

Wow, what an eventful and busy week we have had! Thursday our Nativity performance went very well and we were incredibly proud of all the children involved. In the morning they were very brave at drop off and even managed to do a little photo shoot with their friends in their denim and white. On the walk up to Anzac Hall they all began to show their excitement and were practicing their Jingle bells and Twinkle Twinkle songs. After a great performance the children all enjoyed an icy pole on the front oval and some were greeted by very proud parents. Well done Wilkins friends!

Throughout the rest of the week, we have rearranged our backyard, creating an outdoor kitchen and dining area, moved our wooden house to create a more quaint atmosphere facing the garden bed and set up many areas to engage in water play. The children have also been busily making Christmas decorations for both our tree at the ELC and your tree at home.

We have had a very special week with Nativity on Thursday! Our class has been busy preparing surprises for Christmas,  getting our Graduation DVD ready and preparing special songs to sing.

We are looking forward to our Graduation ceremony next Friday December 9^th at 11am in the College Chapel. You are all most welcome and wider family too!

Dear Cooper families,

What a fantastic job everyone did on Thursday at our Nativity performance! Well done to all the Cooper children who came along on the day and performed for their families and friends.  We were all extremely excited leading up to the day and couldn’t wait to show off the songs we had been practicing all term. Mr Ty and I were very proud of the way that all of the children presented themselves on stage, great work Cooper room!

The Cooper room have been very busy this week creating beautiful gifts for their families in preparation for Christmas. During the week in conjunction with creating our little gifts for our loved ones we spoke about what Christmas means to us, this is what the children said:

Ed – Santas got a bag he gave it me, he hold me (photo).

Linda – I see Santa at a baseball

Aiden – On Christmas day I get my presents

Sebastian A – I saw in a book there was a sleigh. A Father Christmas.

Olivia – I see the Santa this weekend.

Larissa – I saw a plate and a fireman hat for Father Christmas.

Xavier C– Christmas and shopping.

Emillia – Santa gave me a real kitchen not a real one a fake one he also gave me a dolly.

Brian – When I was a baby I was asleep and then I yelled “mummy wake up, its Santa!” Santa flies up with the rain clouds.

Aaron – Christmas is magic. I’m happy.

Alexander – Father Christmas

Sebastian A – Me at the Christmas pageant, I saw some people singing songs then Santa came at the end and I got lollies.

Next week is the last week term 4, which means that on the 12^th of December the Summer program will start. During this time, I will not be in the classroom and Mr Ty will be running the program alongside another educator. There are summer holiday attendance sheets displayed on the Cooper room door. On these forms could you please indicate when your child will be attending ELC during this time.

Dear Mead Room families and friends,

Mead Room were on the move this week!

We traversed the path to the ‘big school’ and went to Anzac Hall for Nativity practice.

Then we went on a ‘Positional’ PAC Quest (aka numeracy in action!!) The beginning of our adventure….. we went behind the main building along the verandah and spent some time watching the construction vehicles working below us.  A sidestep between two buildings and down the stairs of the Memorial Building, then we turned left, then right and we found ourselves almost under the Library. Soon we walked beside the Art and Technology Centre, a quick pitstop in the secret garden between the Science Centre and the Gerard Innovation Centre.  Then we meandered along the path next to the Red Centre, then over the paving and through the gates to the Tennis courts.  We went for a run with the Cooper Room friends around the tennis nets and found ourselves almost back at the ELC.  Not much further! We had to stop near the car park to cross the road and walked inside the ELC, just in time for lunch!!

Our Nativity performance on Thursday was incredible.  The children explained the highlights as they saw them;

Cooper – I like the singing

Ethan – I liked Mummy coming

Haris –  I liked my Mummy and Daddy watching

James – Mummy coming!

Liliana – I liked my family watching

Mikayla – I did like Mummy and Daddy watching

Zed – I liked singing for Mummy

Yifan – Singing

Sam – I like when my Mummy was looking at me

Leo D – Singing and dancing

Jack – I likeded the Christmas songs, Father Christmas got stuck up the Chimley and the other one…. the one where we sang about the bottom of our hearts.  I liked Tommy’s show, and he sang Innkeeper and he sang Bumping up and down on a Camel, and Merry Christmas.

Alex – I like the singing

Jaden – I liked the ice blocks and the big Christmas Tree

Alana – the icy poles

Mattingley

Dear Mattingley families and friends,

This week, after taking Chloe's advice of not giving up, we finished off making our paper. Now we just need to decide what we are going to use it for?

The children's interest in minibeasts continues to take off as children engaged in illustrating their thoughts and ideas at the light table while looking at many specimens.Their concentration was evident in the amount of time they spent in this experience, working out the details of their work and the knowledge they have acquired throughout our explorations. Some children have even managed to incorporate Christmas into their illustrations and language.

"A bug! A colouring in bug!", Alice said as she drew the outline of her bug and coloured it in.

"A ding dong bug! Christmas bugs with eggs", added Chloe.

"A christmas spider and bug. Oh man! That's the biggest one with too many legs!", commented Billy.

"A moth. It's got wings, legs and sucker", said Lochlann.

"A butterfly, head, legs, eyes and wings!", muttered James.

"A ladybird. A Christmas one", added Annaliese.

"A beetle with long antennas and many many legs", explained William

"I made an insect!", said Fred.

We would like to say a big thank you to all our families that came to watch our Nativity performance. We had lots of fun preparing for our special day and hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

Langley

Dear Langley friends and families,

What a wonderful and busy week we have had!

We have enjoyed the wonderful weather by spending time exploring water play, creating in our outdoor kitchen and also playing some soccer!

What a beautiful success was The Nativity, the children did such an incredible job - so brave singing in front of everyone! We hope it sounded lovely from where you were!

As you can see, as you enter the foyer of the ELC - we as an ELC community have come together to decorate our tree. The Langley room decided to create a Christmas wreath. Keep an eye out, its gorgeous!

Next week is the last week of term,

this will be Miss Sarah's last week in Langley - however she will be right next door in the Wilkins room!

Wishing all the future Mattingley children the best of luck. It has been wonderful!
