Dear Mattingley Room families and
friends,
We have thoroughly revelled in this
glorious Summer sunshine. The children have spent the past few
days immersed in our outdoor environment delighting in the joys and treasures
it holds. We have watered seedlings,
picked perfect posies from the ‘Picking Patch’, delighted in observing our
Chooks unearth tasty morsels from the garden, discovered smooth, brown eggs,
and on a few occasions we have just plonked ourselves on the grass, wriggling
our toes and listening to the sounds that surround us!
We are demonstrating responsibility by
providing fresh water and food for the chooks and feeding our resident frog,
Froggy, with juicy crickets.
We enjoyed our first Dancify lesson this
week with Miss Erin. She is teaching us
a groovy dance to a fab 80’s dance track, ‘Walking On Sunshine.’
And finally we were involved in a spontaneous
fire drill (they always are though aren’t they!) whilst we were in the middle
of PE! We later asked the children to describe what occurred to allay any fears
or misconceptions they may have harboured:
Annabelle – We went to the Gym
Ava - We played with the circle that
flaps (parachute), and we make it go up and down
Ethan – We do jumping
Eann – PE
Makara – We hear a sound, “Nee Naw, Nee
Naw”
Rupert – It means go the other way, no
looking at the fire
Amelia – (The siren means) Danger!
James – We went to the grass
Sienna S – Just to practice
Scout – We were ok!
And we were!
Have a wonderful weekend.
From Melissa and Georgia
