Cooper

Hi Cooper families,

What a week we have had this week! We have been incredibly busy this week, starting off the week by introducing our new class pets – our tadpoles. We have had numerous class discussions about how we should care for our tadpoles. This was the essential agreement that the class made for looking after our tadpoles.

-       Don’t tap on the glass. It hurts their ears.
-       Don’t jump next to the table.
-       Don’t put your hand in the water.
-       We have to be quiet when we are near the tadpoles.
-       We have to feed them everyday. Fish food!
-       We have to clean their tank.

Hopefully if we feed and care for our tadpoles, they will start the process of metamorphosis soon and we will then have 3 healthy frogs in our classroom.

Show and Tell has continued all week with Group 2 bringing in their holiday photos to share with the class. It has been lovely listening to the children talk so fondly about their family holiday.

In preparation for Valentine’s Day, we started to talk about the topic of love and what love means to us. We spoke about Valentine’s Day being a day for expressing love, appreciation and friendship between family and friends. As a symbol of Valentine’s day and expressing our love for others, we started to create salt dough hearts to display in our classroom.

On Thursday we had a very busy morning! We had an early P.E session, where we engaged in group games, ball play and an obstacle course. After this session, we were in the middle of racing down to get back to the ELC when the fire alarm went off (practice drill) and we had to make our way to the large oval. This was pretty exciting for the children. We finally made it back to ELC in time for a short Dancify session where we tried new moves and danced to some groovy music.

On Friday we celebrated Chinese New Year with a special performance from the Edgerley class and a Lion Dance parade around the centre. We made red envelopes in the morning in preparation for the parade, which the children gave to the Lion as it passed our class. It was a wonderful cultural experience for the children.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
