Dear Langley parents
and friends,
This week we have
enjoyed preparing our first portraits of the year using images of our own faces
as a starting point. The children really enjoy seeing photos of themselves and
we have been using them for a 'getting to know each other ' activity in the morning
as we continue to work on settling children in and creating a sense of
belonging. Family photos are also used to comfort the children throughout the
day so if you have yet to send one in for our tree please forward them to ojones@pac.edu.au.
This week we will be
lucky enough to have a visit from a dancing Lion in preparation for Chinese New
Year celebrations taking place this coming weekend. The children have prepared
envelopes to hand to the Lion and will join in playing percussion instruments
as the Lion weaves its way through the ELC. The children also enjoyed their
first Dancify session for the term. It is great to see them having a chance at
expressing themselves through movement.
We continue to enjoy
opportunities for dramatic play both in and outdoors. The children have used
shopping baskets to purchase items from cashiers at the registers whilst
outside we have enjoyed large group play on a bus made from foam blocks and
washing our baby dolls in a bubble bath. All role play is a great opportunity
for socialising and interpreting the many experiences the children witness in
their everyday lives.
We hope you have a
wonderful weekend.
