To start the week we discussed
belonging and the children thought about how they know they belong.
Tommy:
A house.
Christian:
We sleep in a house.
William
D: We belong here in school. We all have the same shirt.
Christian:
We get them from them from the school shop.
Tommy:
A badge, a crown. (pointing to his uniform top.)
Isla:
My mummy has a badge and she lives in the school too.
We then went on a tour of the school
looking for crowns that
show we belong to Prince Alfred College.
We also got our scientific minds working after
last week's interest in water.
We
looked at Zooper Doopers and how they changed when they were frozen.
Miss
Elodie also changed water using jelly crystals with a very yummy result.
Cody
built a surf shop and it gave us a great opportunity to develop our numeracy
skills and vocabulary with words to order size. This led us
full circle back to symbols as the children noticed in a book we read
about lifesaving, there were flags and symbols telling us how to keep safe.
Please encourage the children to look out for sign and symbols that keep
us safe- It would be a great for show and tell which starts next week.
On top of the lockers is a form to
indicate which school your child will be attending in 2019. We would be
grateful if you could add your details to it or alternatively email mcharlwood@pac.edu.au
