Dear families and friends,
It's been a wonderful start to Term 4 this week. We made the most of the
sunshine at the start of the week with lots of outside water play. We explored
boats and sea creatures, talked about units of measurement such as full and
empty and created glorious mud in the sandpit!
Our Wilkins hospital has been a
hive of activity as the children engage in small group social play, reenacting
different scenarios. We have had very caring doctors and nurses looking after
our very sick patients. To explore this further, we have been looking at X-rays
and skeletons and using different art materials to represent these. Some
children even seem to have befriended and little skeleton, talking to it,
singing it songs and high fiving!
Thank you to Tarika and her family who shared
their Diwali celebrations with us this week. Tarika wore her special outfit to
school on Thursday and we shared a video clip about how and why Diwali is
celebrated. As a class we then created beautiful, bright Rangoli images at the
front of the building to welcome people to the centre.
A few reminders:
As the weather warms up, can everyone please make sure they are applying
sunscreen to their child each morning at drop off. We will then reapply for the
afternoon.
Please provide several changes of clothes in your child's bag each day. We
support and encourage children to engage in messy play and then can also adjust
clothing according to the weather throughout the day.
Next Wednesday 25th October is School Photo Day. If you haven't collected your envelope
from your child's locker, please do so as payment needs to be made prior to the
photos being taken. Our class will be photographed from 9am. Please allow
plenty of time to get a car park as it will be busy and unfortunately we can
not wait for children. The oval will be open for additional parking. All
children are welcome to come even if it's not their day, please make sure they
are in uniform. If it's not your day but you are coming in, please drop them
off to the class as normal and pop down to Tell Henry coffee shop for a quick
coffee. We find children are much cheerier for the photos when mums and dads
and grandies aren't around!
Best wishes,
Ellen, Courtenay, Melissa, Chelsea and Jess
