Dear
Edgerley Parents,
This
week we have been closely observing silk worms in our classroom. We have learnt
the hard way that they are fragile and must be handled carefully.
Their
skin is so soft - Lotti
They
are wiggly - Ollie
I
can see their leaves - Ed
We
have enjoyed harvesting mulberry leaves for them to eat and have been very
surprised at how fast they consume them. If you have any silk items at home
that are not fragile we would love to see what their cocoons are turned into.
This
week we also had a few blood noses from children picking them. This started a
discussion about how we can keep our bodies safe. Educators were impressed with
how many different ways the children could think to look after their bodies. In
the end we decided to trace the shape of Aaron so that we could record all of
our ideas.
Wear
your hat - Stirling
Or
wear a helmet when you are on a motorbike - Will P
Brush
your teeth - Sebi
Check
if there are any cars - Lewis
Or
they might run over you - Sebi
Eat
steamed fish - Isaac C
Put
on your suncream - Lotti
Don’t
be clumsy and bump into poles - Emilia
Wear
your seat belt - Aston
As
part of this discussion the children also mentioned "having privacy” and
then decided that what is in underpants is private.
We
have also begun to prepare for our upcoming Nativity and have enjoyed sharing
the story of the first Christmas and learning some of our songs.
Lost jumper: Stirling has misplaced not one, but TWO clearly named jumpers!! Please can you take a look at home to see if they have made their way to your house and return ASAP. Thank you.
