Hi Cooper families,
Welcome to the start of term 4! We have a very busy term ahead of
us in preparation for the end of the year, Christmas celebrations and our
Nativity performance.
This week, the children have demonstrated a strong interest in
letters, in particular, letters that make up their name. Instigated by the
children’s curiosity, we have spent some time looking at the letters in the
alphabet and writing our own names. Through these experiences the children
demonstrated their emerging knowledge and understanding of literacy concepts. When
we were reading books during the week we also noticed that there were letters
in the words that were also letters that made up our names. This shows that the
children are developing an understanding that words are made up of various
symbols that communicate and convey meaning.
On Thursday, the children discovered that there were a large
number of broad beans that had sprouted from our bean stalks in the outside
yard. We picked them from the tree and many of the children had the opportunity
to try the beans that were inside. We have noticed that the children have
demonstrated particular interest in gardening and planting, which we will
explore further next week with some hands-on experiences.
We have ELC photos on Wednesday the 25th of October. If
it is not your child’s regular day, you are welcome to bring them in for the
class and individual photo, however, you will need to stay with them for the
duration of the photos. Our class will have their photo taken at 11:00am, so
please make sure that if you are coming in, to please be here by 10:45am.
We hope that you have a wonderful weekend.
Love Miss Gilbert and Miss C
