Dear Langley Friends
and Family,
We have had a
wonderful week in the Langley room.
It
is Science Week so we have been using the story ‘Who Sank The Boat’ to create
our own boats using alfoil. We
experimented to see if they sink or float out in our man-made lake. Some children enjoyed scrunching up their
foil and they noticed it sank when in water, while others would keep the alfoil
flat which helped it float just like a boat.
Please try this experiment at home using alfoil to make your own boats. I wonder if the boats are strong enough to
hold objects? Can you make one that might hold many toy animals?
During Book Week we
are focusing on traditional fairy tales. We will be reading a new one each
day. Our class will start with the story
Red Riding Hood. You might see some
hidden clues around the centre suggesting another fairy tale story is close by.
Keep a look out!
Reminders:
·
Big Boys
Breakfast (Father’s Day event) on Thursday
31st August (WeeK 6). Please
return your blue slip so that we know numbers of attendance for the
day. Thank you
·
Book Week
next week with Thursday 24th
being our Dress up day. We encourage
all children to part take in this day and dress up as a book character and to
bring along the book to share if possible.
·
If you can
remember to bring in your child’s baby
photo for our display that would be fantastic also. Already many children have become fascinated
with the current photos we have.
Have a great weekend.
