Hi Cooper families,
We started our special yoga sessions in the Cooper room with Miss
C this week. During these sessions, the children engaged a range of breathing
exercises and had the opportunity to try 3 new yoga positions. The yoga
positions that the children learnt this week were the down-ward dog, the
butterfly and the frog. Yoga is a fantastic way for children to develop and
grow. Practicing yoga develops strength, flexibility, coordination and body awareness.
It relieves stress through breathing exercises, increases concentration, self
confidence and self-esteem.
The following was the dialogue taken after our yoga sessions this
week:
Yoga makes you big and strong – Poppy
Yoga is musicals and breathing. You do the downward dog, and the
butterfly and the frog – Eddie Newton
I like doing yoga at home. You have big breaths in yoga - Toby
Yoga makes you feel nice – Luci
Yoga makes sounds and music –
Josef
Yoga is healthy – Thomas
The clay table has been a very popular experience this week in the
Cooper room. Clay is a wonderful material that can be manipulated into various
shapes and forms. It helps to develop the children’s fine motor skills as they
push and press their fingers into the clay while experimenting with the new
material. The children have made some imaginative creations using the moulded
clay and a range of natural materials.
I have placed a copy of the weekly diary in each child’s locker
this week. I will be sending the diaries out via email again as of week 5.
We hope that have a wonderful weekend.
