Angwin

Dear Angwin Families and Friends,

We had quite a great start to our Autumn Holiday Program. The children were ecstatic to share about their fun experiences and adventures during the Easter break. Most had beach adventures, picnics, holiday drives and most of all, Easter egg hunting and eating! We continued our exploration on birds and shared with the children about the 2 current bird addition to my growing family. I can’t wait to bring them in for the children to meet soon. We worked together looking at bird samples and talk about similar and different things about birds and illustrated our observations with the group.

Walter - Some are really little and some are really big
Billy - The falcon is really big.
LochlannThis duckling is tiny. The one I am drawing is really tiny.
Felix - Some are colourful and others are just black.
AshtonAnd brown. This owl has lots of brown.

We have also noticed that the beans we have planted in cups have been sprouting and would be ready for garden planting next week.
The children’s ongoing fascination over fairy creatures was captured by the way they interact around our Fairy Cafe. You should see how calm and quiet they are as they feed fairies some small nibbles and magical drink. They even collect nuts and small leaves from garden.

"You have to be quiet so the fairies don’t fly away"
"They don’t like loud noises and shouting. It scares them"
"And they like little things for food and eat together with the other fairies"
"I love playing with them" - Audrey

One of the most exciting things we had this week was discovering that our second butterfly has hatched. We looked at its spread wings and our knowledge on monarch butterflies told us that this one was a boy one.

"It has 2 black spots on its back so it’s definitely a boy”, says Walter
“The wings are so big! And the colours are so bright”, noticed Alice.

We watched him flutter by and fly away to a tree at the boarding house garden. We sat together on campfire logs and sang songs and collected leaves and sticks for an Autumn project on our way to the Hockey pitch for some games and running races.

We have been exploring ways to assess our choices throughout this week and have been representing them through our ticks and crosses chart. So far we have been really good at identifying good choices from poor ones and been exploring ways to turn red into green ones so we can keep having a fun and safe classroom inside and outside.

We are looking forward to another fun filled week.
