Dear Families,
We have been exploring the Easter story, thinking about
crosses on hot cross buns, how Jesus died on the cross and gives us new life.
Together we created our own Easter garden to help us remember the story. We
have learnt a couple of new songs, made some beautiful cards and bright Easter
egg paintings. The children have enjoyed making their own Easter egg baskets
and we will share an Easter egg hunt on Thursday. Each of the children
will also bring home a little chick to remind them that Easter is when we
celebrate new life!
We have been trying out a few different number counting and
dice rolling games which the children have enjoyed practicing our counting to
20.
To finish off our investigation into bees we have tasted
real honey from honeycomb.
Here are some of the children’s thoughts…
Thomas:
I can see 300 holes with honey inside
Alice:
I have a box of honey at my house
Audrey:
Bees collect pollen from flowers make the honey.
Alina:
I can see the honey at the bottom. It’s delicious!
Billy:
A little bit is melted on the top.. .the honey is at the bottom… it is bright
orange.
Joshua S:
The honey is under the white
Edward:
It’s the wax
Sammy:
The wax goes over to make sure that no one gets the honey
Felix:
There’s wax on the top of each frame and bees put the honey in it.
Walter:
You can’t eat wax! It is in candles
Lochlann:
The honey is very tasty!
Together the children are building a shared knowledge of
how bees collect the pollen and make the honey. We used honey to make some
honey crackles with Oliver’s mum, which were delicious!
Thank you for all your wonderful support this term. It has
been lovely to get to know all our families and the interviews have been a
terrific way of sharing our knowledge of your beautiful children as we continue
to support and encourage their learning over the months to come.
Wishing you a Happy and safe Easter everyone!
Kind regards
Pip and Coney
