Dear
Mead Room families and friends,
This
week we continued our ‘Water’ investigations by engaging with concepts of
volume, capacity, floating and sinking. Utilising
children’s literature we delved into the story of ‘Alexander’s Outing’ by Pamela
Allen, and found Alexander the duckling involved in a potentially catastrophic
predicament if it were not for a small boy with a cup of water! The children
have explored this conundrum, theorised and hypothesised using props for
hands-on problem solving!
Alana
shared her book, ‘Captain Plop’s Water Saving Mission’, which gave us many
ideas to help us to be proactive in sustainable practices. The children demonstrated they had much prior
knowledge on which to draw upon;
Danica - “Don’t leave the tap going.”
James – “Turn it off
strong!”
Sienna – “There’s two buttons
on the toilet.”
Cooper – “Don’t press them
both at the same time.”
We
will be following our water interests to where ever they take us…….
During
Sports Day we had the opportunity to use (and enjoy!) the oversized parachute,
this week in our PE lesson Mr Barton reintroduced this fantastic piece of
equipment, Leonardo “Its soooooo
big!”, and a little bit heavy too! We
thoroughly revelled in this gross motor experience, taking turns to make it
soar into the air, holding on tightly to the handles whilst some of us ran
underneath.
Enjoy
your weekend!
From
Melissa, Elodie and Sharon
