Dear
Mattingley Families and friends,
This week
we have been busily continuing our paper making process. After ripping and
soaking our recycled paper our next step was to use a stab mixer to mix
up all the paper turning into pulp. We each had a turn, making sure that we
were being very careful.
The paper

I add

You have

Mixing it

It’s all

It feel

It’s
slimy- Sammy
Later
in the week, once our pulp had had time to finish soaking we invited the Mead
classroom to show us the next steps in making our paper, as they had made
some wonderful paper last term and had become experts in the
process. Firstly they explained that the special frame that we were going
to use was called a deckle. This was a funny word to say, but after some
practice we got the hang of it.
We
found it really tricky at first to follow all the steps at first, getting pulp
splattering everywhere.
Don't
give up Miss Mason. You need to try and try again- Chloe
We
all took Chloe's advice and tried many different ways before we had
any success, but it was very exciting when we finally made our first
bit of paper. We can't wait to make more next week.
To
finish off our week Mrs Rocca played some beautiful music from around the world
for the children to dance too. There was lots of smiles and laughter as the
children moved their bodies to the different types of music. What fabulous way
to end the week.
