Mattingley

Dear Mattingley Families and Friends,

Wednesday saw us learning new skills in our PE lesson with Mr Barton. As part of the obstacle course he had added three platforms that the children needed to jump from, each one getting a little bigger. It was important that they made sure that they  landed in their 'motorbike' position (bent knees) on each of the mats. Pretending to be on motor bikes at the end of their jumps was lots of fun! The last jump from the platform onto the trampoline onto the mats took a little practice, but when they mastered the skills there was no stopping them. We can't wait for PE next week!

This week we have continued our investigating into how paper is made. Drawing from the information we have learnt from watching YouTube clips we discussed the process of making paper.

This is a palm tree. You need to knock it down to find paper. It come from the trunk then we pop it in the machine. Then it turn in paste then it tun into paper. The machine chews it up but the tree will be sad. We need to keep it up. I put paper I finished in recycle bin- William

Trees are happy if we recycle- Felix
Then they don't get cut down (if we recycle)- Roman
We can recycle it to make more paper- Samuel
You can scrunch the paper out of the recycle bit- Lochlann

After a chat with Mrs Prest about how to start the process of making our own paper, we collected paper from the recycle bins around the ELC to start.

We use recycle paper- Roy
We chop it up first- Walter
It soak, soak, soaking- Paxton
Then it turns into pastry (paste/pulp)- Sammy

Next week we will have to work out the 'machine' we will use for the next stage of our paper making journey. Watch this space!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend,

Mrs Kimberley Mason and Mrs Coney Rocca
