Mattingley

Dear Mattingley families and friends,

What an adventure we have been on this week as our explorers have been looking for buried treasure in all sorts of places around our classrooms. Unfortunately though they had no luck being able to work out where it was buried.

We need a map- Sammy suggested.

Of course we needed a map. How else would we know where the 'X' that marks the treasure would be found. Working together over the week the children created not one but three treasure maps, with many intricate details to help us in our quest for treasure. Let's hope the treasure is not too far away.

 'X' marks the spot- Felix

A big rock you have to jump over- Leo

This map goes to the Wacky Warehouse- Alice

the long round road. It take me far away- Edward

Mountains with snow- Jasmine

You have to go up the mountains like hiking- Sammy

Through this experience the children were sharing their dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity with each other. They were able to follow and extend on their own interests with enthusiasm, energy and concentration as they made meaningful marks together on this group project. Hopefully we are a step closer to find this hard sought after treasure.

To finish off a very busy week we had lots of fun engaging in water play to cool off Friday morning. It was a nice taste of the warmer weather that is hopefully just around the corner. As the days do get warmer we will have our fountain on in our outdoor learning environment giving the children the opportunity to add the water to their play. Could we please ask that you bring in spare clothes for your child to change into once the water fun has finished.

We hope you all have a wonderful week.

Kimberley Mason and Coney Rocca
