Edgerley

Dear Edgerley friends and families,

This week our little scientists were busy learning some basic scientific concepts by doing some experiments. Monday we invited our Chapple and Angwin friends to explore chemistry around us and find out what happen when two things mix together. Everyone got a chance to have their hands on exploration. We tried to make rain cloud in a jar, fireworks in a jar and volcanic eruptions by mixing different ingredients.

Tuesday Edgerley children decided to continue exploring the concepts of science and their investigation lead them to find out what happen when we mix different colours together.

This week we also have experienced a nice weather change after freezing cold weather last week. Taking advantage of beautiful weather, we explored the school grounds and enjoyed playing at the rainbow playground twice this week.

Wednesday was an exciting day for us as we had a police car in our school. We heard lots of important information about police, police vehicles, police dogs, police horses and the way the police works. We also learned about the importance of a very special number ‘000’ and how it is helpful to us. Then we had a chance to sit in the police car and learn how it works. We are thankful to SA police for sharing such valuable information with us.

The writing table has been another favourite play space and children have been engrossed in writing their names and their friend’s names. This is a wonderful inspiration for inquiry and discovery into our identities and sense of belonging.

Thursday we were busy being scientists again mixing different liquids and making waves in the sea, mixing solids and liquids to make oobleck that is solid to touch and liquid when we hold it.

On Friday, we dressed up in our favourite pyjamas and brought in some gold coins to support the children in Australia who are in the foster care system. We also enjoyed different balloon activities in the Red Centre.

Dear Edgerley kids, this was our last week together in Edgerley. We are glad that we were your teachers. We can’t believe the end is here and we hate to see you go! We remember all the fun we had, in all the things we did but most of all we remember you are a very special kid! Have a great future ahead.
Love,

Ms Mckenzie, Mrs Bishop, Mr Ty, Mrs Kaur, Mrs Murdy
