Wilkins

Dear Wilkins friends and family,

This week in the Wilkins class we have had a strong focus on Animals and reptiles. We have recently acquired some new resources which included Jungle Duplo and it has been wonderful watching the children share these with one another and create their own little jungles. Throughout term one we focused on the book 'Walking through the jungle', and we researched the names of different animals found in the wild which many of them are now applying in their dramatic play. Miss Georgia has also been sharing with the children her knowledge about reptiles. Many of you would have met her pet snake Jerry which the children have been watching closely in the Langley room.

As some of our children are preparing to take the next step up in their early learning education, we have been doing some visits to the Junior school library. Throughout the children's experience at Prince Alfred ELC we nurture them as much as possible during transition periods to ensure they have some familiarity, especially for routines when they go into their new classrooms. As the children will be having weekly Library visits, as well as extra curricular activities such as physical education we have been able to enjoy these experiences with them too. It is wonderful to get the children interested and excited about learning to read early and the staff in the library have been a great help.

Finally as some of you may have seen or heard we have been having regular visits from Erin a member of Dancify. In addition to dancing be a great physical activity, it is also a highly social activity. Dance lessons can help children Improve their social and communication skills, learn how to work as part of a team, develop greater sense of trust and cooperation and make new friends.

We look forward to seeing you during the week,

Mrs Jess, Mrs Nicole, Miss Georgia, Miss Ellen and Miss Kim
