Dear Mattingley families and friends,
What an amazing week we have had in our classroom . You can not
believe how many fires our courage's Mattingley fire department have put out.
They have saved the ELC many times, working together, negotiating turns and
having lots and lots of fun.
Come quick there is a fire! over there in the table corner. Come
quick!- Amelia
You have to wear a hat to protect head when you fight the
fire. And you need a gas tank. That helps you breath- Felix
Point the hose at the fire- Ashton
Look there's a fire over there! Come quickly- Sidney
Quick Dosh (Josh) quick. There dire (fire) up there- Jed
Fire, fire. I squirt fire higent (hydrant)- Josh S
I help too- Daniel
I see the fire. Call the fire truck- Lachlan B
We can see the children taking what they have learnt about fire
safety so far and incorporating it into their play. There is not always enough
room in our fire trucks for all the children, so we have thought about other
important jobs there are within a fire department. We know that it is important
for someone to man the phones so they can raise the alarm. Then there is the
very important job of sounding the alarm. We have also spoken about what fire
fighters do when they arrive at a fire, using safety equipment to keep them
safe as they fight fires. We are looking forward to the Belair CFS
bringing their fire truck on Monday so we can learn more about the very
special job that they do in keeping our community safe not only when there
is a fire, but during other emergencies too.
We hope that you all have a safe weekend. Stay warm and dry.
Kimberley Mason and Coney Rocca
