Dear Mattingley families and friends,
What a wonderfully wacky week we have had in our classroom this
week. On Monday we had our first dancing lesson with Erin from Dancify. Using
the very popular song, 'The lion sleeps tonight' she has begun to teach the
children a fun new dance. There was lots of laughter and energy
throughout the lesson, and we are already looking forward to our next
lesson on Tuesday.
Over the week we have continued our thinking into what animals
live in a forest.
A snake- Edward
Frogs- Paxton
A big snake- Oliver
Silver bear and a black bear- Joshua D
A tiger- Sidney
A lion- Lachlan B
A mouse- Amelia
With the help from Mrs Rocca the children have added a number of
animals to live in our classroom rainforest. By all accounts they look very
happy with their new home. I wonder if you use Walter's hand made
binoculars you might be able to spot any animals hiding amounts the
trees?
In our outdoor learning environment there has been many delicious
cakes being created. It seems that we have some master chefs amongst us in our
classroom. Through the children's play we have begun to talk about recipes
and how they help us by telling us the ingredients that you need to put in
the cakes. Next week we will take a closer look at recipes, encouraging our
friends to have a go at writing them so we all know how to make their delicious
cakes. These are the ingredients that the children needed on Thursday to get
their bake on in the sand kitchen:
Icing- Paxton
An egg- Lachlan
And we need some sugar- Annaliese
No sugar in mine- Jason
Strawberries- Thomas
Sugar in cake- Daniel
Then in the oven- Lachlan B
We can all eat the cake coz we are friends- Paxton
To finish off our wacky week we decided to go searching for
some dress ups that we could practice our dancing in. We had lots of fun
sorting through the dress up boxes, trying different things on. We think we
look pretty good. What do you think?
We hope you all enjoy your weekends,
Kimberley Mason and Coney Rocca
