Dear Edgerley Families,
The children were interested in our new addition of number blocks
to our morning meeting board. We have been using the blocks to create the date
for each day. It has given the children an opportunity to explore numbers and
what two numbers are needed side by side to create a larger number. We decided
to investigate the idea of a date further by looking at a calendar.
Miss Gray asked the children, “What is a calendar and what is it
used for?”
“To write stuff on, there’s little squares that you write numbers
in and when it’s the day you put it on” suggested Luke.
“It starts with a ‘c’ and ‘a’” announced Aadeesh.
“A calendar’s used for seeing what mumf (month) you’re in”
explained David.
“When will October finish?” asked David.
The children were all eager to find their birthday on the calendar
and were recognising other special events that happen throughout the year. We
will continue to use the calendar at morning meeting and encourage the children
to find their birthday and record it in the calendar.
The volcano has erupted many times over the week. The children are
enjoying engaging in imaginative play as they make the dinosaurs come to life!
Please remember to return the reply slip for Nativity ASAP.
Have a lovely weekend!
