Langley Room

Dear parents and friends of the Langley room,
What an eventful first week of holidays we have had. We have especially enjoyed Silly science day
Our first experiment on science day was to Colour White Lilies.
Miss Kerry asked the children "what colour  could we change the flowers to ?”
David-Blue
Lachlan-Yellow
David –Pink
Lachlan- They are white and green.
“Has anyone got these lilies growing at home?” Miss Kerry asked.
Angelina- Me, pass it around.
The children all observed the lily very closely. We then filled small vases with coloured water and placed a lily in each one.
“How long do you think it will take to change colour?” miss Kerry questioned.
Lachlan- we could wait for them and clap.
Over the course of the day the children noticed the white lilies change from white to vibrant colours of the rainbow like magic.

Our second experiment was to make Fairies in a Jar. We made the room very dark and we used glow sticks, glitter and glass jars to capture our fairies.
Anay- It’s dark
Harrison R. It's a straw ( talking about the glow stick)
We snapped the glow stick and poured the contents into the glass jar along with the glitter then placed on the lid and shook the jar vigorously.
Then WOW we saw them blue fairies.
Jaanav- Blue.
We also opened up some glow sticks and splattered them over the floor and it looked like the floor was covered in fairy dust. It was very pretty.

Our third experiment was to make Moon Sand which consists of sand, cornflour, oil and glitter dust. It has a very strange texture. We also made Slime that was very messy and slippery between our fingers.

We are all excited for next week!

Have a great long weekend
