Langley Room

Inspired by some of the children somersaulting off the concrete plinth onto the blue mat, we have set up a long tumbling mat to practice our rolling and somersaulting. The children have been trying a range of different strategies to propel themselves along the mat. Each attempt has been celebrated with cheers and applause from the other children waiting their turn. We have set up some audience viewing chairs for the children to watch their peers. This has resulted in children trying out other children’s strategies for moving along the mat. We have been talking about how to somersault safely in order to look after your body by tucking your head right under, making sure you stay on the soft mat and having only one person at a time on the mat. You might like to have some practice somersaulting at home over the weekend!

Best wishes,
Jess, Kerry, Pippa and Ange
