Dear Angwin
families and friends,
The Angwin
children have been very busy with their individual and group explorations
heavily focused on concepts surrounding space, planets and recycling. We
continued our work on rocket paintings and have started exploring the features
of the planets in the solar system. The children shared their prior
understandings and I am sure that our future in depth inquiry will led to more
research and construction of new knowledge as children share what they already
know and pose their questions.
I know about cosmic
gas but I really what to know what it looks like - Felix.
Rockets blast off
to the sky and when it does, fire comes out of the back. And at night, the
sun goes around the other planets and in the morning, it comes out at the end
of the beach - Billy
The moon is
really important in space. The astronauts go on the moon, they collect stuff - Leo
Jupiter has got
volcanoes in her - William
There is no water
in space - Joshua D.
Are there really
aliens and monsters in space? Are they real? - Daniel B
How does the sun
go around? Does it move to another planet when its morning?- Oliver
There are meteors
and asteroids in space. They sometimes drop to earth and can make holes on
the ground - Walter
Our
recycled garden is also taking shape and the
Angwin children invited other classes involved in their project,
helping pour dirt into bottles and watering them too. We strongly believe
that children's engagement with nature through experiences
like this is the most relevant and effective way to creating
awareness and connectedness to the world in which they live.
The highlight of
our week was of course the Pyjama Day. Not only did we enjoy eating
pancakes and warm chocolate, thanks to our chefs Miss Kim and Miss Sylvia, we also
created awareness and raise some funds to support the Pyjama Foundation, a
foundation that provides much needed support and resources
to children in foster care across Australia and the world. Thank you
for your participation to this event.
We are looking forward to Term 3 and
welcoming Mrs Cooper back.
