Mattingley

Dear Mattingley families and friends,

Welcome back to the ELC we hope that you have all had a relaxing and safe break. The children shared that they have spent lots of time with their families, the beach has been popular and they received some lovely presents from Santa.

Sujay said “Miss Bowden, did you see the bush fires? I see them when I drive my car.”

Ethan continued “I see one in the newspaper and it has burnt many trees and the branches got fire.”

The children continued to talk about bush fires so together we created a bush fire scene on the light table where the children were able to use the wooden fire engine set to put out the fires. They also began building houses in the construction corner and used red ribbons to represent fire and waved around blue ribbons to extinguish it.

We ended the week by becoming scientists and doing a variety of different experiments. If you add vinegar to bicarbonate of soda it makes a mini explosion. The children laughed when adding the two ingredients with food colouring to see it rise and make bubbles. We will continue to be scientists next week so if you have any ideas of experiments please write them down for us and bring them in for us to try.
