Langley Room

Happy Chinese New Year from the Langley Room

We have been discussing Chinese New Year Celebrations in the Langley Room. This week Mrs Dry bought in her rice cooker for us to cook rice in. We tried eating the rice with chopsticks which tested our fine motor skills.

We discussed the rice cooker, its components, how it works and what would happen to the rice
"Ri ooker," said Sterling
"Lid," said Domenic when Ms Kerry held up the lid
"A snake," said Angus RR when Ms Kerry held up the power cord
"What are these?" asked Ms Kerry holding up some chopsticks
"Hopsticks," said Alexander
"Copsticks," said Domenic
"Chopsticks," said Nathan

We placed the ingredients into it and hypothesised what was going to happen to the rice.
When the rice was cooked we ate it out of little Chinese take away containers and used our chopsticks.
"What happened to the water?" Ms Kerry asked the children.
"It's in the rice," said Nathan
Some of us were very clever at using the chopsticks and enjoyed trying the rice.

Thank you

Jess, Nicole, Kerry, Sarah and Emily
