Mead

Dear Mead Room families and friends,

This week we delved into the concept of Love.  It’s a tricky concept, but the Mead Room friends articulated their feelings -

Isla B – “Love is love hearts, I love Mummy.”
Harry – “I feel good with Mummy.”
Elsie – “I love Mummy, I ticky (tickle) her!”
Poppy – “I make gingerbread with grandma.  I love grandma, Samuel, Mummy & Daddy. I hug them.”
Quinn – “I love everyone in my house.”
Jimmy – “I love Daddy, we play.”

We read a book about Love and on further discussion realised that for us Love and Kindness are similar concepts.  Its about helping others, doing things together and supporting eachother.

Cody – “I help Mum clean up.”
Zahli – “I help my Mum and Dad, I help do the washing.”
Bill – “I help Mummy put stuff in the bin.”
Anwen – “I play with my friends.”
Scout – “No hitting.”
Isla DG – “Being happy, give people a smile!”
Ginger – “You can say, ‘Do you need a friend?’ when someone is sad.”
We will continue to discuss Love and Kindness!

We thoroughly reveled in our Dancify event on Tuesday!  The children really engaged with this music and movement experience so we continued in the Mead Room when it was over!

Wednesday morning we were organising ourselves for morning meeting when Miss Boler noticed a feathered visitor had strolled into the Mead Room for a visit!  We were a little bit surprised, but not too much.. Chooks seem to like exploring the ELC when they’re out of their chook house.  We had a chat about being kind (!) to the chooks when they’re out of their own area – we will let them roam about looking for worms, we will try and stay out of their way, we won’t chase them ‘because they’ll be too scared and sad’ (Teddy).

On Thursday we traversed the path up to the Preparatory School for our first encounter with PE. We were able to make good use of the Preparatory School Gym; ball skills, parachute experience and an obstacle course that just seemed to go on forever!  Then we took a little detour on the way back to the ELC….. we meandered off the path and wound our way through the Boarding House garden, down the steps to the Health Centre – we popped in to see our amazing Health nurses but both were away so we introduced ourselves to Mignon who was relieving in there instead!  Then we negotiated the path near the Headmaster's residence and ended up back on the path to the ELC.

There is more…. but we don’t want to be greedy and take up the whole blog this week.

Spend some wonderful time with each other.

Melissa and Georgia.
