Dear Edgerley families,
This week has seen a shift in interest from the Jurassic
Period to modern day scuba diving. The children have used every craft item
available, from straws and milk containers, to paddle pop sticks, to make
high tech scuba diving gear! They have made snorkels, goggles and air tanks to
go on some deep sea diving adventures with wonderful role play scenarios to
be seen. We have brainstormed a list of what they would like in their
underwater world and the children are busy creating a deep sea oasis in
the corner of the Edgerley room. Come and have a ride in our submarine
and through our jellyfish infested waters!
William suggested we construct a submarine "to see
all the beautiful fish" so the children discussed what they
would need to make:
"A propeller" - William
"A compass" - Oscar
"An aerial for the communication" - Ollie
"A periscope and a button for making the propeller come
out" - Varish
"A key to lock the door" Sebastian
Jake found a ladybug and brought it in for sharing. The children
were interested in why it was orange and black instead of red and black. Oscar
suggested the ladybug was a boy "because boys are orange and black, and
girls are red and black". Jake confirmed it was a boy ladybug because
"it doesn't have boobies". We decided we will try to find some books
in the Prep school Library to enable us to find some answers to our ladybug
questions.
Our Chinese lessons have seen a continuation of focusing on action
words where the children have played action games to solidify their learning.
Best wishes,
Emma, Mel and Ty
