Dear Angwin Parents and Friends,
We have been progressing well with our exploration into the
world of shadows. The shadow frame in our room has provided endless fun and
entertainment, as children have put on shows for each other using their bodies,
hands and props. We have gradually built on our definition and understanding of
shadows. Here is some of our observations from the shadow frame so far.
‘You need to put a light at the back of the frame to get a
shadow.’ Oliver
‘When Gabby steps back, it looks like she’s coming forward.
If she steps forward, it looks like she’s going backwards.’ Miles
‘We could put on a shadow show and have tickets and
popcorn!’ Gabby
We investigated further and found that shadows need light
from a source that is strong and close, that shadows can be seen in the dark
and the light, but sometimes when it’s light, there are no shadows.
We have been on shadow hunts, played guess whose
shadow and copied shadow pictures with our hands. It’s been lots of fun.
Thanks,
Angwin Team
