Mead




 
 
For the past week the Mead Room children have been exploring the story of The Gingerbread Man.  It has challenged our thinking in our discussions by asking the question what makes a family? Can you create a family just by making dough and using a  cookie cutter? The characters in the story, the little old man and the little old woman tried it—the children answered with a resounding NO!  It is impossible to make a family in that way!   The Gingerbread man has then lead us to literacy, numeracy and science investigations. We have re-created the story with props on our literacy table and extended our learning by making our own Gingerbread people. We have even tested the theory that the Gingerbread Man would disintegrate if he got wet……
