Community Minded Children

Dear Families,
Many of the children at the Early Learning Centre have been coming in and discussing the flood disaster in Queensland. It is amazing to hear young children who are clearly aware of what is happening in the world around. Not only have they been discussing what they have seen and heard but they have also been brainstorming a range of ways that they might be able to help the victims of the floods.
“I might have to give some toys to the people” suggested Sienna thoughtfully.
“She can do the toys and I can do the food, okay?” added Lucy.

“What do you think the people in Queensland will need to help them?” asked the Teacher.
“An umbrella, a big umbrella” suggested Sebastian R.
“That might work” agreed Jack O.
“The poor people don’t have any food or anything” commented Lara.
“What could we do to help them Lara?” asked the Teacher.
“We can get some money” she replied.

Obviously we can’t make a giant umbrella to send over to Queensland, but we can help the children raise some money to send over. Please support the children’s efforts to help those in need by placing some money in the collection box above our flood display in the entrance.
