Angwin

Dear Angwin families and families,

I hope you all stayed cool this week and did some fun indoor stuff in lieu of hitting the pool or the beach.

This week has been yet another fun one for our small group of boys who spent their time relishing on creating, building and playing indoors and outdoors.

We went to the rainbow playground earlier in the week. The children enjoyed such uninterrupted outdoor play, trying to catch the monster with their ‘wet power’ throwing buckets of water over them. It was great to see them working with each other collaboratively, fusing their ideas and delegating work such as pumping the water out, taking it up the playground equipment and then splashing the 'monster' down below. Mrs Rocca had the mind to not get too close :) Seeing the children confidently do this just shows their readiness for new school adventures.

We did not let the heat bring us down this week. Instead, we counteracted it with a great play under the sprinklers, getting cool and soggy, jumping into the puddles and getting  splashed by others. Indoors, more cooperative play took place, with children planning their buildings to create stories or ‘shows’. Mrs Rocca had to watch each one and  wasn’t allowed to bring her iPad but only use the one provided by the ‘show people’  but apparently it's better for adults to “not take pictures at all but just watch so you can see everything” according to the children. I had to take permission to snap some for the blog. Amazing how spot on children can be sometimes. We really do need to listen to them more :)

Next week, the Angwin children will be spending most of their remaining days with the Edgerley children  due to our low numbers. This will give the children the opportunity to engage with other peers outside their class and start to initiate friendships with new children as a little practice for when Term 1 starts. The children will still be dropped off as normal and Mrs Rocca will transition them every morning. Thank you and stay cool over the weekend
