Dear Mead Room families and friends,
One day Iverson, Ming Ming and Jimmy
were digging in the garden at the ELC;
Iverson – We’re digging for bones……
dinosaur bones!
They persisted with their archaeological
dig for most of the morning, looking for clues in the earth.
The next day we revisited the bone dig
at morning meeting, we talked about whether the children had seen bones before
-
Harvey has a great love of bones and is something
of an expert:
Harvey—I got a book about bones, and they are
lots. I seen them and they’re enormous!
Vivi—I saw some in the forest
Isla
B—At the museum! Whale
Bones!
Cody—I went to the museum hundreds of times
and saw dinosaurs.
What
is it called when you see all the bones joined up to make a frame for the body?
Cody—A skeleton!
Vivi—There is a skeleton for your brain
(skull) and my whole body is really, really fragile.
Tom—My dad saw a skeleton.
Hamish — Our bones are inside our body
Ginger—Under here (rubbing her skin)
Ronnie—I can feel lots of bones!
Scout—I broked my arm. I had a green one (cast),it got better.
Ronnie—I have bones in my neck.
Cody—Animals have bones too.
Elsie—Dinosaurs… even snakes!
We brought in a new friend to the Mead
Room, Stuart the Skeleton, and he is helping us to discover new and exciting
facts about bones.
We’ve also been engaged in Autumn art
projects; we are collating information about the furry or feathered or scaly
members of your households; and our 3D shape exploration is a deeply embedded inquiry!
Finally, for the next few weeks we will
have two UniSA students visiting the Mead Room to engage in an Arts Project –
we welcome Riley and Brooke – stay tuned!
Take care of each other,
Melissa and Georgia
