What a busy and action packed week we have had in the
Langley room!
On Monday, along with the rest of the ELC, we celebrated
Chinese New Year. It was fantastic to see all our children participate in this
event as they joined in by playing musical instruments. After the lion dance
the children reflected on their experience and painted some gorgeous collages.
Larissa - “Lion scaring me and go rah, rah, rah! I just
pat a purple one and a yellow. It soft and a horn on it. Boom, boom, it from
the drum. I had the drum. And the lion go” (starts jumping, twirling and waving
arms.)
Sebastian - “Lion walking. Red and yellow.”
On Tuesday we made some delicious pancakes with the
Wilkins class to commemorate Shrove Tuesday, the beginning of Lent. We all had
a turn at stirring the mixture before we had to wait patiently as they cooked.
We also had a special visit from a Monster Truck on
Thursday. We learnt how the driver climbs up into the truck because it has no
doors and got a reminder about wearing our seat belts in the car to keep us
safe.
Rocco – “Dat’s a big moster druck!”
Phoebe – “Door high”
Following on from this experience, and also our own
motion experiments with ramps and tunnels in the classroom, children created
car track prints. We dipped the wheels into paint, then let the cars roll down
the paper.
In the coming weeks, we will be talking about families,
so please bring in a recent family photo ASAP. Thank you!
Have a great weekend
