Dear Parents,
Its been a week of celebrations in the Edgerley Room. The children
have been learning about Chinese New Year in their Chinese lessons.
It's the year of the Monkey. He's a special monkey - he's
magic! - Johnny
They hang up lanterns because its a special day - Oscar
They have fire crackers - David
Red is the good luck colour - Regan
On Monday we were fortunate enough to have some of the senior
school International students visit us and perform a Lion Dance. The
children played on a variety of musical instruments providing some wonderful
background music for the lions to dance to! Johnny fed a red envelope
into one of the lions mouths to bring good luck.
They're jumping and kissing. Real lions have manes. They're just
pretend. They're just dress up! - Jake
I think they're fighting - Luke
There's somebody in them. I love it when they are were
meeting each other - Sebastian
On Tuesday we celebrated Shrove Tuesday. Reverend Dickens, the
school chaplain, visited the ELC and shared a story about the meaning behind
Shrove Tuesday and then the children mixed pancake batter and cooked delicious
pancakes. We even had cream and maple syrup to put onto them!
Best wishes,
Emma, Mel and Ty
