Dear Langley family
and friends,
We have had another
busy week this week furthering our investigations into Paddock to Plate. We
were lucky enough on Thursday to be able to go to Plant 13 restaurant on the
bus – thanks Becki and Cole for having us!
The children were
very excited to board the big bus at school. With seat belts on, we set off on
our adventure. We were able to spot all sorts of things out the window –
planes, trucks, buses, diggers and cranes! Upon arrival at Plant 13, Harrison’s
daddy greeted us and showed us through to the community garden. There were all
sorts of different fruits and vegetables growing and we even got a chance to
plant some kale in one of the empty plots. We prepared the soil and divided out
the seedlings before digging little holes to place them in, pressing down the
soil around them and watering them carefully.
We then ventured into
the restaurant where we got to taste some of the produce from the garden. We
had sweet potato chips, kale, scones with jam and even some chocolate milk! We
then moved to the big grown up area in the restaurant where Chef Alana showed
us how to make fruit people with chopped up fruit and tooth picks. We all had a
go at making our own fruit people before eating the delicious fruit. By the
time we got back on the bus to go back to school, we were all very full of food
and exhausted from our big adventure !
As we woke up from
our sleeps we created art images of our morning and reflected on what we had
