After reading a book about farm animals, we did a quiz from
the back of the book. It was lots of fun!
Why do farmers keep chickens?
James W- so sheep can lay lamb. So they can lay chicken and
have chicken chicken.
Izabella – to grow up
Susannah - so they can lay their eggs
Eden – I saw a little kangaroo, a blue bird and a rat. The
rat climbed onto a rock and the bird flew away and kangaroo hopped away.
Luc – it’s swinging its tail because it’s happy
How do cats make themselves useful on the farm?
Oscar – farmers don’t like rats because they poo everywhere
and eat the food the cats chase them away
What a baby goats called?
Luc – a quid
Oscar- a kid
What do sheep eat in winter?
Christian- grass
Eden – something yummy
Oscar – hay
During cold weather they eat grain and hay
Samuel- run around to put the sheep in one place
Oscar – they chase them in the ute to put them on the
paddock
What do pigs do if they get an itch?
Markis – they scratch their back on the tree
Have you ever watched ducks on the pond get their food?
Max – they fish with their beaks
Luc – they dive down
We made pasta last week and discussed what components make
such a yummy meal! We revisited the story of The Little Red Hen and
learned about milling grains and the process of making flour. It was great fun!
Next week we will be exploring fruits and vegetables, rice
and grains. We will be making pancakes and having a pancake kitchen in the
classroom.
