Cooper

Dear Cooper Families

Our week in the Cooper room started with a visit to the Preparatory School. It was nice to have a change of scenery for the afternoon as we played on the Preparatroy School Playground. As a class we enjoyed sharing adventures of what we did during the Christmas break which included activities such as decorating the Christmas Tree with decorations, visiting the beach, going camping and just enjoying some time spent with our mums and dads. David also shared his exciting time at the botanical garden where his family had a picnic. We enjoyed making 'summer garden art' throughout the afternoon.

Today we focused on our summer holiday activities and reminisced about visits to the beach. During the morning we made healthy fruit smoothies by cutting up the fruit and adding milk to enjoy a cool, refreshing drink. We read the story 'The Magic Beach' and enjoyed revisiting this through the sand box and the light table experiences. We also took part in water play to escape the hot weather during the morning. In the afternoon we again had a change of scenery as we explored the fun activities set up in the Angwin Room.

As the middle of the week approached we decided to go on a 'Teddy Bears Picnic'. We took a cuddly friend along with us to have morning tea on the oval. We read story books including 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' and 'Where is my teddy?' Throughout the day children also enjoyed pretend play with their cuddly friends. Whilst we were on our morning adventure we found some bark that had fallen from the gum trees in the hot weather. We decided to bring it back to the classroom and turn it into a fun art experience. Children had fun first setting up the activity by breaking the bark into smaller parts and then gluing them down to make their own special creation. We spent some of our time inside to escape from the heat but still enjoyed some outside water play in the morning.

On Thursday unfortunately the weather stopped us from our visit to the Red Centre so we watched ‘Frozen’ with the Mead room instead. We revisited some of the activities from earlier in the week and had a go at painting the planets of the solar system which many of the children have shown an interest in.

Other popular activities this week have included building and construction with blocks, Duplo and tracks. We have also enjoyed sand-pit play when the weather was cool enough to visit the outside environment.

On Friday we are looking forward to a cooking experience with Miss Moir and Miss Renee. We are also looking forward to exploring parts of the Preparatory, Senior School and of course, the ELC.

Have a great weekend from the Cooper Room, Miss Emma, Miss Renee and Miss Moir.
