Dear Angwin families and friends,
The Summer Program in the Angwin room kicked off with both quiet
and exhilarating experiences. We enjoyed doing some Christmas crafts that
involved cutting, pasting, gluing and painting. This included designing our own
foam baubles, making snowflakes and painting images of poinsettias and Father
Christmas. There was so much effort and thought that came into these works of
art. Next week we will assemble a tree made of sticks to hang our baubles onto.
Our 'Frozen' inspired tables have attracted lots of creative
fingers as they built their own versions of Elsa's Tower and built the town of
Arendelle with perspex, glass marbles, pebbles and tinsels. Some even retold
the story as they made books with their own illustrations and
scripts. We talked about adding some more blue and silvery stuff into our
table next week. On Wednesday, we read Christmas books that children
brought in to share with the class and it seemed to have taken us all over the
world with stories inspired different versions of Santa all across the
globe. The children also enjoyed making our Christmas play dough and making car
parks and tracks for our matchbox car collections.
But of course, the highlight of our week was the 'Wet and Wild
Day" as we basked in the sun, turned our slippery dip into a water slide,
splashed everyone (teachers included), and danced to some cool kids music. It
was indeed a very wet and wild day.
Next week, we will enjoy some more fun and exciting experiences as
we say goodbye to Year 2014.
