Mattingley

Dear Mattingley families and friends,
What a busy week we have had in the Mattingley classroom this week. We had two very special young ladies celebrating their birthdays with their friends this week. We would like to say a very big happy birthday to our good friends Poppy and Erin.
We really do love sharing our friend’s birthdays with them, however in the future, due to a significant rise in food allergies and intolerance's a decision has been made that birthday cakes will now be made in our school kitchen if you wish for your child to share one with their friends. As per the information that Melanie sent last week, all you need to do is give us a few days notice and we will put in an order to the kitchen for a small donation, and a wonderful cake will arrive on your child’s special day. Its a very simple process.
We have also spent a lot of time this week continuing with our train project. There were many discussions on how to keep safe around the train tracks. Harry BB, who knows a lot about trains said that it was the “ding a dingas” that warn the cars that a train is coming and tell them when to stop. After a little research with Miss Bowden on the classroom computers they worked out that they were called ‘rail way crossings’. The children worked very hard together to make their own rail way crossing for our classroom train station.

On Thursday William and Harry H were externally busy in our block area making a wonderful construction with the large wooden blocks.

It’ a truck- Will
No it’s a tractor. It’s a tractor truck- Harry HIt mows and it goes very fast and it picks up all the bins and puts it in the rubbish- Will
It’s so cool- Harry H

The names are for the kids to hop on- Harry H

These bits (pine cones) make it go very fast. It’s a really fast one- Will

It was great watching both Harry and Will use their problem solving skills, working together and including all their friends in their wonderful creation.

Next week’s show and tell is: 'What is something that I learnt to do this year that I couldn’t do last year'?
We hope you all have a lovely weekend,

Kimberley & Coral
