Dear Cooper families,
We have had a busy start to the
term 4 in the Cooper room. This week the children have been particularly
interested in sorting and classifying groups of toys around the classroom. The
children worked together in small and large groups to scaffold each other,
learning to collectively sort and classify the objects. Through this experience
we discussed and explored different ways of sorting and classifying different
objects. From here the children were able to count how many objects in each
group. The children have also been admiring the beautiful spring flowers that decorate our Cooper class. Many of the class have used them as inspiration to create beautiful still life drawings of the flowers. We will be going on some nature walks next week with our drawing pads to observe and draw plants for the environment around the ELC.
As a part of the children’s exploration of our natural environment we have been looking at the characteristics of leaves. For our creative art pictures we used leaves dipped in white paint to make prints of the leaf onto black paper. This inspired conversations about the details and lines of the leaves. The children experimented with pattern making through this activity and had a lot of fun in the process.
Class photos will be held on
Wednesday the 21st of October at 10:30am in the Town Square. Please
make sure that your child is in full school uniform. Hope to see you all there.
We hope you have a lovely
weekend.
Love Miss Gilbert and Miss C
