Dear
Cooper Parents,
Our
learning this week has been all about challenges! The winter months prove to be
a challenge in lots of ways – ducking in and out of the wind and rain, trying
to avoid catching colds but our challenges were a little different.
We
challenged ourselves
:
to carefully make our way around the most amazing obstacle course in the town
square climbing under rails, balancing on hay bales and stepping on wooden logs
to make it to the very end. This tested our perseverance as well as our balance
and co-ordination skills.
:
sort and classify a wide selection of objects to see what floats and what sinks
after playing in the puddles. We were amazed to see that some rocks do float
and some pieces of bark sink – quickly!
:
create a house that the Big Bad Wolf could not blow down, no matter how hard he
huffed and puffed. The children used our dark tent as the house and re-created
the story many times over. We will continue to work on construction the perfect
house next week, using clay, play dough and a variety of natural resources.
:
recognise our own names at group times and even search for our friends names.
We began to practise writing them in the sand on the light table.
:
putting on our own shoes and socks after rest time. This was probably one of
our biggest challenges and sometimes we got them on the wrong feet but we were
all very proud of our efforts.
I
wonder what challenges next week will bring!
Best
wishes
