Chapple

Welcome Chapple Families

As we move into the Term 3, we have been increasingly looking to develop our emerging literacy skills. The use of oral language is vital in helping children pre read and it has given us such great pleasure to see how the children have embraced this.

After reading the story of the Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch and setting up our own lighthouse and pulley system, the children decided to retell the story.

Harrison T: I’m Mr Grindling.

Doane: I’m Mrs Grindling.

Harrison T: She is going to send me a lovely lunch like in the story.

Scarlett: I will tell the story. (She proceeded to model reading) There is a wire and they send it to Mr Grindling. She made a delicious lunch and send it down. The scary seagulls took the lunch from the wire.

Doane: The food is coming Mr Grindling. These are the mustard seeds. Go away Seagulls.

Loukas: Here I come, a seagull. We need three. Come here Angus.

Angus T: We have lunch to get!

We also retold the story of the Three Little Pigs, including our own silly versions, involving the sound of the week P, with the pigs living in pumpkins, pears and pineapples.
